Understanding Standing Seam Metal Roofing

By Jack Hanley

It's good to know some facts about standing seam metal roofing if you're considering using it on your roof. There are a lot of benefits to be enjoyed by this type of roofing. In the first place, it's one of the most durable forms of roofing available. You can expect three to four decades of good service from this type of roofing. The thing that needs to be watched, is for installers to be aware of the costly mistake of penetrating the membrane of your roof.

The experts say to always attach as few things as possible to the roof. This can save you plenty of headaches down the line. But there are circumstance when you have no choice but to attach some equipment to your roof. If the installers know what they're doing, then there are little tricks that will enable them to attach the equipment and maintain roof integrity. No matter if it's lightning protective gear, or HVAC equipment, or solar panels, it can all be put on in a proper manner and leave you with a solid problem-free roof.

Protecting the membrane of the roof is key, and the number one goal when attaching rooftop equipment. For some reason, many workers seem to feel that a metal roof offers a good secure way to anchor things down, so they violate the metal roof's integrity and attach things by penetrating the sheet. But if they know what they're doing, there are lots of ways to attach things to the roof without penetrating and compromising the roofing.

Improvements have been made to standing seam metal roofing that really has enhanced it's attachment capabilities. It now contains seam-clamps, which act like little beams, that you can use to attach and secure objects on the rooftop. Walkways and things like solar panels are easily attached without losing any roof integrity. These clamps will help in securing things to the seam and keep the thermal-cycling traits protected.

Like we've said, there are times when you just can't get around penetrating the membrane. This could be in a case where you want to attach some HVAC equipment or some plumbing vents. There's just no way to mount them and not puncture the roof. So with these, you need to focus on installing a waterproof seal that will assist in keeping the thermal-cycling traits intact.

The information above was for dealing with regular mounting. But there are times when you need to mount something that's a bit heavier than that. This calls for mounting to a galvanized steel frame. This structure will have legs made from round pipe, that penetrated the roof and attach to supporting structure below the roof. This mounting will be stationary. There may be, depending on the structure's weight, ways to still attach the support frame to seam clamps and do away with the pipes all together.

Whenever you use round shapes that penetrate the roof, you should flash them with EPDM rubber pipe flashing. Most people use the black color due to its proven UV resistance. You simply stretch the rubber over the pipe and then add a stainless steel clamp at the top for extra hold, much like securing the radiator hose on your car. When you attach the flashing, be sure that it gets anchored only to the roof panel and not to the main structure of the building.

This is just a little insight into standing seam metal roofing and a few of the things that need to be considered during installation. This type of roofing is a really good invention, and has really helped out in the ability to maintain roof integrity. You can find out plenty more by going online and using your favorite search engine. You'll find that they all agree, that this type of roofing is known for durability and strength, and good protection against roof integrity. - 33387

Leather Motorcycle Jackets For Women And Men

By Ethan O. Tanner

Mens leather jackets for motorcycle riders have all of the time been in stock in many designs and forms, nevertheless lately women's leather motorcycle have also become obtainable. These jackets are especially made to fit a ladies figure. Prior to this women riders had to make do with a small leather jacket that was projected for a mans physique and not a woman, therefore a complete fit was never achieved.

Most manufactures of wearing apparel these days have accepted that more women are riding bikes then always before also as the fact that they've been passengers for a long time and where never properly addressed. Well that's now changed and women can now choose from a lot of motorcycle leather jacket.

Leather has always been the preferred choice of material for a jacket. The leather offers protection from road rash. That is if quality materials are used and stitched together and re enforced properly. We recommend you buy all your apparel from a brand name manufacture. This insures that you are truly going to get some protection out of the jacket because it will be made from quality material.

Textile and Mesh are the freshest thing in motorcycle jackets where as before these highly durable materials were introduced the best you could do to energize a warm weather riding jacket was to get a leather penetrated one. The perforations are fashioned to let air pass thru while still giving you security.

Now with new mesh and textile materials made from Kevlar and the like you can get almost the same protection from a jacket made from Mesh then a leather piece. These new materials have a high abrasion resistance and do not tear easily. Also most of the garments made from the mare double stitched to prevent a tear at the seams.

So at the present you have a choice in materials. Decide whichever suits your needs best and is going to be the most comfy to wear. Comfort is very valuable when it adds up to riding apparel since if you don't feel comfortable in the item you're not likely to wear it in the long run.

Personally I've two jackets one from mesh and one from leather, that way when its cold outside I can wear upon the thicker leather one that also has a insulated insert to help hold me warm and on warm days I can wear the mesh one and have every the protection similarly as comfort to ride all day. I do have to admit I choose the tone of my leather motorcycle jacket to the mesh just since it's a a lot old school look. - 33387

UFC 85 Flashback: Alves, Bisping Win

By Ross Everett

A day after failing to make weight for his fight against Matt Hughes, Thiago Alves dominated the former UFC welterweight champion en route to a 2nd round TKO victory. The main event at UFC 85 in London was somewhat anticlimactic to the fans at the O2 Arena who considered the semifinal matchup between Manchesters Michael Bisping and Jason Day the biggest fight on the card.

Hughes didnt make any excuses following his one sided loss, saying simply that hes a good fighter and he got me. The longtime king of the UFCs welterweight division also gave notice that his career as an active fighter was drawing to a close, suggesting that he had one fight left and challenging Matt Serra in what presumably would be his retirement match. Hughes had no answer for Alves from the opening horn, as he was stuffed on several takedown attempts early on. When he did finally get his opponent to the ground he was unable to do much damage. Alves, conversely, scored effectively with his striking including several damaging knee strikes. He also did considerable work on the ground, with an elbow strike opening up a large cut on Hughes forehead. Though he didnt get to his knees a la Georges St. Pierre, Alves did make a plea to Dana White for a title shot. His failure to make weight wont help his cause, however, and judging from the UFC Presidents incredulous smirk in response that opportunity wont be immediately forthcoming.

The end came early in the 2nd round as Hughes was caught coming in by a devastating knee strike. He fell to the canvas in a heap and referee Herb Dean was jumping in to stop the contest before Alves could follow up with any punches. As the ringside physician entered the ring to check on the fallen fighter, Hughes gave an indication that his knee was injured. Replays showed that his knee buckled under him in a very awkward fashion as he fell and while the extent of the damage is yet to be determined Hughes indicated in the postfight interview that it was messed up.

Michael Bisping simply overwhelmed Jason Day en route to a lopsided TKO victory. Bisping built upon the improved boxing skills he demonstrated at UFC 83 by unveiling an impressive ground and pound attack. Day never really got anything going and by the last minute of the fight was simply trying to cover up to prevent damage from Bispings elbows and hammer fists. Between his move down to the middleweight division and his improved technical striking skills, Bisping looks like a different fighter. His post UFC 83 suggestion that he wanted a fight with Anderson Silva seemed premature at the time, but following another devastating performance its starting to look much more realistic.

In other action, Mike Swick used an array of high kicks and a 7 reach advantage to coast to a unanimous decision over Marcus Davis. Davis, a former professional boxer, was unable to get inside against his lanky opponent and was never really in the fight.

A controversial point deduction for a strike to the back of the head cost Nate Marquardt his match against Thales Leites. Marquardt was solidly in charge for the entire fight, but suffered a point deduction for an illegal knee strike in round one. While that infraction was valid, replays of the 2nd round deduction for the strike to the back of the head gave the impression that he was penalized for a legal strike to the side of the head. The 2 point deduction changed the outcome of the fight, with Leites winning a split decision by the scores of 28-27, 28-27, 27-28.

In the opening PPV match, another controversial ending saw Fabrico Werdum defeat Brandon Vera by 1st round KO. The fight had been evenly contested up until the stoppage, with Werdum scoring a couple of takedown and Vera countering with some effective punching. Late in the first round, Werdum got a full mount and began to fire a series of punches. Vera was clearly defending himself and didnt appear to be hurt at all when the referee jumped in to stop the fight. Vera said that hed answered that he was OK when asked by ref Dan Miragliotta and that he was just trying to ride out the round from that position. - 33387

What You Might Need For Travel Goods

By Charles de Chunac

If traveling is one thing you love to do, you might be a pro at it. But have you ever traveled somewhere and wished you had some things with you? Are travel goods something that you sometimes forget to think about and therefore miss when you travel? We asked a few people some of the things that they think one must remember to include when they travel. Here are the essentials or things you should pack

Some of them have felt that it is completely easy to get lost. In order to keep you from getting to that situation, they say you should have something that can tell you where you are. It used to be that a map should be in your car of whatever state or area you are traveling through. Now, it seems as though the GPS system is what helps people.

Other things that you might consider having on hand would be wet wipes. You cannot believe how handy these come in. The kids spill their drink and get sticky; this is one thing that helps. Other uses have been for public restrooms that do not have soap.

There are other things that all of us need to bring. The ride can get pretty boring as a passenger. If you are the driver, there is rush hour and more where you too might be a little bit bored. To make sure that does not happen, make sure that you bring something with you to keep you entertained. It could be a book or a game.

The cell phone and the accessories there are nice to have with also. This way if you get in a jam you can get the information and the help you need. Some have rules about talking on it when driving so a blue tooth might be nice as well. Do not forget your charger or that really defeats the purpose of bringing it.

The last of which we could recommend as people have told us they do not leave on a trip without it would be all the means to pay for something. They always make sure that they have extra on hand so that if something major comes up they have the money there. It might sound crazy but add it to the list.

As you can see there are many things that can be considered travel goods. You might or might not think about them half the time. Some might be those things that you would think you would not forget, but many of us have to have that list of things that we need or not. You never may know when you need something. - 33387

The Arena Football League Reaches The End Of The Line

By Ross Everett

After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were "unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months." The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now."

Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, it didn't exactly send a positive message about the future viability of the league.

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations"despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) cryptically explained that it was due to circumstances currently affecting the league and the team."

With a dispersal draft planned to reassign the VooDoo personnel, uncertainty began to reign over the leagues future. The dispersal draft was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded. The most recent announcement finally put all of the speculation to rest.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. A major problem was skyrocketing player salaries, and some sort of compensation system tied to team revenues was a necessity. A bigger schism was left between several factions of owners"primarily drawn along lines of overall wealth.

Despite the demise of the Arena Football League, it wont be the end of the road for the twenty two year old sport. The 50 yard indoor war lives on in the AF2 league which, ironically, was originally started as something of a developmental organization for the AFL. The league plays in smaller markets and has a more realistic salary structure. A number of current AFL players"and possibly a couple of AFL franchises"could end up in AF2. - 33387

Dive Adventures

By Pri Vag

Depending on the tide, it is a fairly constant 25-27m to the seabed and 18-20m to the upper (starboard) side throughout the dive. The wooden superstructure and planking have all long-since rotted away - though many fragments of planking are still found attached to the iron framework. This leaves a steel hull held together by iron cross-members and, with the decking gone, this allows the Diver to explore both the external features and two deck levels within the wreck itself.

At the Bows there is a large copper ring that once held the bowsprit in place and just in front of this is the ship's leading curved metal bowsprit support - underneath which was once found the figurehead. Swimming slightly away from the Bows and looking back, it is easy to see the Carnatic's fine, sleek lines - even today.

From the Bows, the ship gently widens to the main body where, on both sides, lifeboat davits are found - still swung out. These are, however, usually missed by Divers because the preferred route from stem to stern is to enter the vessel and swim between the first two levels of iron framework - a fascinating close-encounter with something built in 1862! We even found a small brass porthole, though I must confess that I covered it with debris so that it would remain in situ for a little while longer - all the others having been removed.

Emerging from this forward section the Diver will then encounter the most severely damaged part of the wreck. Although this is now nothing more than a pile of scrap metal, it does, nevertheless, still provide plenty of scope for exploration and investigation - after all, the "4 cylinder compound inverted engine" is still in there - somewhere.

For many, however, the stern remains the most exciting and interesting part of the entire experience. Within the ship, this section is very similar to the Bows - and once again the Diver is able to swim in between the framework of two deck levels. Deep in the hold I was surprised to find some very old barrels and I could not help but wonder what it was they once contained that has proved to be such a fine "wood preservative" - Brandy? To see the very best aspect of the entire vessel, however, the Diver must come out of the wreck - where, once again, lifeboat davits are found on both sides, and swim right around the stern.

My first reaction on seeing this finely moulded stern, with it's single row of seven square windows, was that it was reminiscent of Nelson's day - and that is not a bad comparison. In many ways it is easy to see how traditional styles - evolved over so many years of building wooden ships, had now been adapted into steel. Below the windows, the gracefully rounded stern curves inwards and down towards a magnificent rudder revealing the one feature that certainly was not found in that previous era - namely, the large three-bladed propeller resting on the sand.

After such a long time underwater, it is fairly safe to assume that the Carnatic is likely to remain pretty much as she is for the foreseeable future. She is well colonised by coral, soft corals and her own indigenous population of Vanikoro Sweepers and is probably one of the finest examples of her time to be found anywhere in the world - and well worth the visit.

Should you do so, however, spare but a thought for those who lost their lives. - 33387

Business Travel Made Easy

By Daniel Pott

Flying commercially is not too bad if you can be flexible on times and travel dates, but when you are trying to fit in flight plans between business meetings it will become clear that the business traveler is merely at the mercy of the commercial airlines and their schedules which are subject to change at a moments notice, most commonly due to a flight that is not worth their effort to make simply because they have under booked it, hoping to get some last minute travelers to fill it up.

Although flying may be a major part of your business, or job, there is a much easier way to do it. Many companies have begun to utilize private jet charters to transport workers to business meeting and presentations. Fedor Emelianenko To Face Brett Rogers In Strikeforce Debut

By Ross Everett

Fedor Emelianenko will make his debut for the Strikeforce MMA promotion this fall, facing undefeated prospect Brett Grim Rogers. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker made the announcement at a Showtime promoted Fedor open workout in New York City.

Fedor is considered by most experts to be the best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world, if not the best of all time. He snubbed the UFC following Afflictions exit from the MMA promotion business, choosing to sign with the up-and-coming Strikeforce promotion. Strikeforce agreed to co-promote with M1 Global, a Russian based promotion company owned by Fedors manager Vadim Finkelchtein and to allow the fighter a non-exclusive deal that would enable him to compete in Japan and Eastern Europe. These had been major stumbling blocks to signing with the UFC.

After signing with Strikeforce, Fedor was typically low key:

I am looking forward to going back to work and fighting at the highest level. STRIKEFORCE is a top fight promotion that houses some of the greatest fighters in the world. I am prepared to fight any of them.

Emelianenkos manager, Vadim Finkelchtein commented:

I am very happy and excited about the upcoming collaboration with Strikeforce. We are very pleased that we found a reliable partner and I feel that Strikeforce and M-1 can support each other on many things. This will create big opportunities for both parties to test their fighters against worthy opponents.

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker shared his excitement:

We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with M-1 Global and Fedor. Fedor has been the reigning king of MMAs heavyweight division for quite some time now so being able to work with M-1 and Fedor will substantially increase the level of competition amongst the athletes in this weight class.

Fedor will put his 26 fight winning streak on the line against Brett Grim Rogers, who himself will enter the fray with an unblemished 10-0 record. His stock shot up precipitously following a first round knockout of former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski in his last fight, and now he takes an even bigger step up in class against The Last Emperor.

Considering that Emelianenko was a -500 choice at many books in the ill fated Affliction matchup against Josh Barnett(ranked the #2 heavyweight in the world at the time), he could be a -750 chalk or higher against the tough but inexperienced Rogers. - 33387

The Use of Floral Tools

By Laura Bowman

Florists, just like any other creative trade, have their trade secrets. Among these secrets are flower matching, ribbon matching, display choice, real flowers or silk flowers, real flowers or candy flowers, and so on. The ingredients and tools make all the difference to the floral artist. Floral supplies are the tools by which those masterpieces are made, even if everyone goes about it in their own way.

A staple piece of equipment for any florist is florist's foam. You simply insert the stems of your flowers into the foam in the arrangement of your choosing, and the foam keeps the flowers in place. You can add water to the foam in order to keep your flowers watered. You can buy different grades for different delicacies of stems.

When you are making your arrangement, cut the foam to be a little higher than your box where you are putting your flowers. You also need to keep the foam tight in the container, since the water will make it tend to slip when wet.

If your box is an unusual shape, then you'll need to cut the foam to its shape. One of the floral supplies you should think about getting is a craft saw. A craft saw is an easy way to cut your foam, though you can still use a kitchen knife, or even some wire, if you cannot find one. No matter which form of cutting you use, prepare yourself for the mess of foam shavings.

If you are using a clear or glass vase though, then you will not want the foam to be visible. In these cases, you will want to buy some metal frogs. Metal frogs are a little difficult, but they work really well in clear vases. If you still want to fill up a little more of the space, try using small rocks and gemstones. Not all floral supplies are made exclusively for that purpose.

If you do not want to go the traditional vase route, you can use other containers instead. You can use small buckets, glasses and long planter boxes. There is no end to the possibilities when it comes to holders for your flowers.

However, the most important floral supplies are-let's face it-the flowers. Flowers can be bought just about anywhere: the grocery store, a gas station, an actual florist, or in bulk from an online outlet. A florist learns which flowers match each other, which colors to use for occasions, and how to arrange the flowers for best appeal.

The floral craft is not simple. In fact, it is a trade with many little minute details. The best way to create the best flowers is to know the medium, and to become proficient in the art of floral design. - 33387

Sha'ab Anbar Diving

By Ned Middleton

The Admiralty Chart shows Sha'ab Anbar as a very long, slightly bent line of coral just below the surface. In reality, it is a very long slightly bent collection of broken reefs with a sheltered lagoon in the north. It has a north point, west and east walls, a south wall and a south eastern plateau. Some of it has been dived before, but the majority of this five mile long obstruction to shipping is virgin territory. The wind blew out diving on the north side unfortunately, but with so much else to discover it wasn't a problem.

The west wall was our starting point. The swell effect disappeared around five metres down and we started down the wall, which wasn't as sheer as I imagined it would be. Small shelves and gentle slopes were more usual than vertical drops which made for an interesting topography.

Again, the corals were outstanding. Hard formations that are usually so delicate and consequently so often broken were commonplace and with orchestral precision constructed a pretty wall.

Our first shark of the trip appeared here. A decrepit white-tip reef shark with the wrinkled face of a 90 year old women ambled through the reef, as if she were carrying two heavy Sainsbury's bags, and trying to catch the number 47 bus home to feed the 67 cats. It was quite pitiful really, but in another way quite heartening to know this creature had reached such an age without loosing her fins and life to fishermen.

As with most coral reefs, the shallower parts exhibited the larger concentration of life. From 10 metres to almost the surface, the west wall was superb and improved by the topography, which turned from steps and slopes to indentations and small pinnacles. Each indent in the reef face became it's own small bay with resident small fish and regular larger visitors.

Large groupers patrolled the edges awaiting for a small wrasse or fusilier to make a mistake and fall foul of its large dental attributes; soldier fish hid in any recess they could find that was dark enough; and, at one point, the coral itself became obscured by a massive and densely packed shoal of Naso Lituratus. - 33387

Information on window cleaning in South London

By Andrew Rixon

There are several different types of south London window cleaners for you to choose from. Many companies in South London still use the traditional water fed pole and wash system for glass cleaning particularly for those buildings that are considered to be risky or highly dangerous.

Pure water is the perfect cleaner for windows as pure water will dissolve and then absorb any impurities that are present on the water. This has to do with the ions present in pure water. Pure water also dries streak free once the window has been rinsed.

Water fed pole can be very long and reach lengths of up to 70 feet. These poles tend to be topped with a Valkan brush. These poles make it unnecessary for ladders to be used as ladders are now illegal for most window washing.

Many times companies will add rain repellant additives so that the windows do not need to be cleaned as frequently. This reduces costs for the businesses and also reduces water use which is good for the environment. These additives are made of hydrophobic polymers that coat the windows. This polymer is translucent so you don't know that the window has a coating.

It is possible to find South London window cleaners that clean residential windows and others that specialize in commercial window cleaning. The commercial window cleaning companies have many resources available and are able to take care of any buildings. They will use crane access, water fed poles and other tools to clean your windows.

It is now illegal to use ladders when window cleaning though many cleaners still do. This is most likely because they do not completely understand the new laws. You should enquire about what methods each company uses for window cleaning. - 33387

I will examine the many factors that go into choosing a place to eat. Additionally, I will examine the various different food types available.

Things to consider:

Occasion - Formal settings are appropriate for meals in which you are trying to impress a guest with. For large gatherings, family style establishments are appropriate. However, if you are by yourself, you might try a fast-food establishment.

Convenience - Choosing a service that is convenient can be an integral part of the decision making process. For example, perhaps the easiest transaction is to select delivery or take-out dining.

Quality - Overall quality can affect many details of your dining experience. The ingredients, nutritional value, and overall restaurant atmosphere can have varying degrees of quality.

Cost - Keeping in mind your budget for food is important when deciding on a restaurant. Always remember that price can affect your overall enjoyment of the food.

Types of food:

American - If you like cheeseburgers and fries washed down with a shake, you'll love this type of place.

Mexican - Many people's favorite ethnic food, Mexican dishes can vary greatly. Enjoy tacos, burritos, tamales, and more.

Asian - Great for a healthy lifestyle, Asian food is rich in protein and vegetables. Try your dish of rice with chicken or tofu.

Sushi - If you are concerned with healthy choices, try seaweed and fish with this prestigious selection.

South American - Offering well-respected steak from Argentina, as well as a diet rich in meat, potatoes and regional plants, this is a delicious option.

Southern - For the healthy-hearted, dig in to fried treats like chicken and catfish, or even things out with a plate of greens.

Italian - Pizza, pasta, and lasagna. Need I say more? Choose from the many variations of the above dishes.

French - Often times when people think of French food, they think of pastries. The choices I'm sure are endless.

Seafood - Choose a simple shellfish, or something more unique like swordfish or squid.

Types of restaurants:

Fast food - If you want food that is quick and filling, but murder on your health, this is the choice for you.

Order at counter - Order at the front, get your food relatively fast, don't worry about the tip, and enjoy quality dishes. A great option.

Diner - Nostalgic places that offer simple classics like apple pie a la mode. Grab a seat at the counter, or a booth with your friends.

Sit down restaurant - Usually offering the best food, in a formal setting, with excellent atmosphere. This is the choice for special occasions.

Delivery - For a usually small fee and tip to the delivery person, have your food dropped off at home to by enjoyed without the hustle and bustle of big crowds.

The many options above go to show the various decisions that must be made when one chooses a restaurant. Hopefully this information has provided you with the insights on food choice necessary to come to a decision. - 33387

All About Timeshares

By Danny Ricks

Timeshare is a property ideal for vacation, shared by a number of individuals not related to each other. These properties include resorts and condominium units wherein its co-owners can practically spend their vacation there at a given amount of time.

There are a lot of factors that dictates the price of these properties. The place you want to stay and for how long and the resort amenities you want are the factors you. These are based on the point, credits or intervals that you purchased.

Timeshares started out in France in the 1960s as a way of sharing times in the condominiums in the French Alps. It is a market strategy of a ski resort developer to boost sales when during that time the resort industry is totally down. As time passed, this industry became more flexible to meet the needs of any vacationer. Before, owners have a fixed week and location where they can spend their vacation. Today, because of the point or credit based system. They have the power to decide when and where they want to travel, as well as the size of the unit they want to stay in.

To date, over 1,600 Timeshare resorts are in the United States and over 5,000 in almost 100 countries worldwide.

Investing Timeshares. Time share comes in 2 forms - fixed week and floating system. Fixed week is where you own the rights of the place at a specific week in a specific place every year. This means, you can only enjoy the property at that particular time of the year. This is the traditional way of holding a Timeshare property. Today, timeshares are equipped with point systems. You are in control of your vacation. Choose your date, your place and the unit size to suit your vacation needs. This is what we call the floating system.

If there are times wherein you can not use your credits for that year, you can roll them over into next year. Or if you want to spend longer time in a bigger unit, you can always upgrade your credits by purchasing more points.

It is basically like investing your own home, but in timeshare, you are investing a great vacation. The property can be paid annually, quarterly or even monthly. Financial assistance is also offered by these companies to help vacationers in financial matters. The maintenance fees, taxes and insurance are also shared by the owners.

What are the Advantages of Timeshares? Having your vacation in a timeshare resort allows you to pamper yourself as you have all the luxuries you want in home with the resort amenities. You do not have to spend too much, because you can always have that dream vacation locked at today's prices.

You are in complete control of your vacation. You can choose from a variety of timeshare vacation choices. You can stay at beachfront resorts, on mountainside chalets, country cottages or even spend your vacation in major cities. Exotic cruises are also offered in timeshare plans. You can create a memorable vacation experience to different places or visit your favorite spot over and over again.

As mentioned earlier, it is an investment. It is not just a dream vacation. As a matter of fact, it can be passed to heirs as a form of real estate. And if an owner does not want to use for their own, he or she has the choice to rent their timeshare to others. - 33387

A Chinese Restaurant Offers Delicious Food And Exotic Ambiance

By Adriana Noton

As a kid, the decorations at a nearby Chinese restaurant meant more to me than the food itself. They sparked a young imagination, what with the woodwork engraved with hummingbirds and flowers, the paper lanterns and the gilded dragons. Although the food is of primary importance to me now, I am still fondest of a place that can offer high quality food and an exotic decor.

Another favorite thing about Chinese restaurants is that you can find them just about everywhere. From Europe to Canada to South America and everywhere else on the globe that Chinese people have immigrated to, you can find these restaurants. When traveling, they provide a welcome change from local cuisine, as well as a sense of familiarity. You often find that the flavors will have been modified slightly for the local palate.

A country as large as China is naturally going to produce many different varieties of cooking. This is partially true because of the many varieties of climates present. All over the world, cooking is influenced by the local temperature and weather.

The Cantonese were the first immigrants from China to the United States. They came because they wanted to get away from China. But they also came to find work which they generally did with the railroads initially. At the same time, they brought their culture with them.

In larger cities where the Chinese immigrants tended to congregate, like San Francisco, specific areas called Chinatowns began to form. These spots provided exotic locations for non-Chinese to visit where they would have exposure to Chinese culture such as herbal apothecaries, acupuncturists, Tai Chi and, naturally, Chinese restaurants.

The first restaurants in the United States were Cantonese, due to the immigrants. One of the most well-known dishes, the sweet and sour chicken and pork, are Cantonese. Their chefs use several different methods of cooking such as steaming, roasting and stir frying. Dim sum is another Cantonese style of cooking. These are small pastries that are filled with different things from meats or vegetables to sweets. Dim sum restaurants are very popular on Sunday mornings.

When later immigrants came, they brought with them other styles of cooking. A favorite is Szechuan, which is very spicy. It comes from the largest province where trade routes brought the influence of other cuisines such as Indian and its use of hot spices. Szechuan recipes are known for their use of chili peppers, peppercorn, garlic and onions.

Unlike the early days when a Chinese restaurant specialized in one style of cooking, now you will often find dishes from many different regions in one place. This gives you the option to taste among several varieties for yourself. The dishes are generally served in portions which are large enough to share. This offers a fun way to taste even more varieties. It is never too late to try a Chinese restaurant. And it is never too soon to go back again. - 33387

Incentive Cruises May Be Cheaper Than You Imagined

By Ellen Freeman

Incentive planners who work with corporate groups are currently faced with clients who just don't have much of a budget to spend. While smaller businesses are trying to cut any luxuries with the hope that producing employees will not notice, and larger companies -- especially those who accepted Federal bailout money -- are trying to regain their image of competence and frugality. Incentive travel is a scary proposition for them both.

Enter the incentive cruise. These are often much more affordable choices for people who love to travel in general, and could be your answer to the problem of affordable incentive travel. Why? Because cruises are relaxing, cruise lines have expanded their ports of call, and a cruise is typically all inclusive. A cruise meeting can save you as much as 40% compared to a land based hotel venue because almost everything is included. Meals, meeting rooms, A/V, coffee breaks, activities, entertainment and even room service are part of the all-inclusive cruise fare. You spend nothing more for linens, floral arrangements, lighting, labor or state/city taxes, which saves your client money and gives you time to devote to your business agenda and attendees.

Incentive planners will save yourself some headaches other than financial ones. If you have a small incentive travel group that is from a foreign culture, you might consider a cruise that will appeal to that culture. For instance, let's pretend Irish music and culture has become all the rage in Eastern Europe. You have been hired to find a cruise for a group of Eastern European business people. Your logical choice will include Ireland, and expand to the other British Isles if there is time just for a bonus.

Cruises can, indeed, be a port in this financial storm the world is in right now. Next time you are trying to find an affordable incentive travel program, take a few minutes and check into meetings at sea.

You will be surprised at how easy it is to plan a meeting at sea, and stay within your budget. - 33387

The Development of Trucks During the Great War

By Mick Tucker

An immediate demand for mechanical military transport following the declaration of war in Europe was partly solved by a considerable influx of well-engineered cross-country trucks from the United States. Those countries that had prepared in advance by introducing "subsidy" schemes soon found they were in a far superior position to those that had not. Despite this, problems abounded.

Steam-powered vehicles such as traction engines had been used on a small scale in earlier situations, but the internal-combustion engined truck had never been used in war conditions, and weaknesses in design were soon apparent. These included insufficient power, lack of ground clearance, and poor protection of mechanical units from the ravages of water and mud, for which the Flanders battlefields were soon renowned.

There was, however, another major problem that few had foreseen. Both sides in the conflict used many components supplied by firms on the opposing side: German-manufactured Bosch magnetos were used almost exclusively by the Allies, while German forces relied largely upon British and French manufactured Dunlop and Michelin tyres. Luckily, the Bosch magneto had been developed jointly by Robert Bosch and the American Frederick Simms, and German supplies were replaced by magnetos from the Simms Magneto Co factory, Watsersing, New Jersey.

At this stage it is worth looking in depth at some of the "subsidy" schemes operating at the time. The instigators of this idea were the Germans who, in the years prior to 1914, had been building up their military reserves. The German scheme is understood to have applied to any truck which an operator was prepared to release to the military upon mobilization. The operator received an initial grant of 150 towards the purchase of the vehicle, followed by a subsidy of 60 for each of the next four years. By the time war was declared, some 825 "subsidy" trucks had been released to the German Armed Forces.

A similar scheme was organized by commercial vehicle industry. The British government offered the purchaser of an approved vehicle a subsidy. However, the vehicle had to be handed over to the authorities within 72 hours of mobilization.

One of the most advanced British "subsidy" types was the 3 ton Dennis `A'-Type, although the `L' or `RAF'-Type Leyland was certainly the best known. The Dennis had considerable influence on British truck design after the war, its most striking feature being a rear axle with removable upper casing containing the worm shaft, worm wheel, differential and bearings, thus enabling the entire final-drive mechanism to be inspected or replaced without disturbing either the chassis or the wheels.

Leyland Motors, on the other hand, built both a 1 1/2-tonner and the 3-ton 'RAF'-Type, while Albion supplied 6000 "subsidy" vehicles, and the Associated Equipment Co Ltd over 10,000. Many of their London General Omni-bus Co `B'-Type open-top double-deck buses were also commandeered and ordered to the Front. The standardization of models and components required by the British "subsidy" scheme enabled so-called cannibalization to take place to keep transport moving, whereas the adoption of any suitable vehicle by the French and German forces gave no such advantage.

As the war progressed, so British forces began to take delivery of new American-built trucks designed specifically for arduous work. Amongst these was the Mack `AC', nicknamed the "Bulldog" because of its snub nose and rugged construction. Ultimately, this became so well-known by its nickname that the bulldog was adopted as the Mack logo, which it remains to this day.

Some American manufacturers, such as General Motors, were now concentrating almost exclusively on the construction of military vehicles, while certain European manufacturers, such as MAN, Magirus in Germany or Societe d'Outillage Mecanique et d'Usinage d'Artilleries (Somua) in France, were building their first trucks in an attempt to turn the tide. Indeed, Somua was established for the sole purpose of building army trucks.

Throughout the Western world, factories not involved in the manufacture of military trucks were turned over to the production of armaments such as shells, firearms and aero engines, while others manufactured both military vehicles and also armaments.

Many American-built trucks saw service not only in Europe but also in the Mexican border campaign of 1916, when the United States government waged war against the Mexican bandit Pancho Villa. This served as a proving ground for these trucks, many of which were later shipped to Europe for military service. At this time, few US-built military trucks were standardized, and it was not until the development of the US Quartermaster Corps's `B'-Class heavy truck, known as the "Liberty", that proper standardization occurred.

On the civilian front, gas was used to combat the lack of petrol, and in the United States the 1916 Federal Aid Road Act was instrumental in establishing a new interstate highway system which contributed greatly to the development of American commercial vehicles. With a rubber tyre shortage, particularly in Germany where manufacturers had relied upon British and French made supplies, unconventional steel-wheeled vehicles, sometimes incorporating metal plates backed by small leaf springs, appeared for a short while, but these were mainly for heavy tractors used for hauling artillery.

Developments in commercial vehicle design, such as the use of shaft-drive, glass. windscreens and electric rather than acetylene lighting, were now creeping in from the passenger car side and, although apparent in many light commercials, it was some years before these were adopted for the heavy commercial market. Pneumatic tyres were also becoming commonplace on lighter types but, again, were to remain a rarity on "heavies" for some time.

While the war did much to establish new standards for commercial vehicles, military vehicle requirements were far different from those used on the public highway. High payloads and economy were more important to civilian operators than high ground clearance or all-wheel drive. Thus, with a return to peace, much re-organization was necessary. - 33387

Travel For Pennies On The Dollar For Bigger Savings Than Ever!

By Randy Steagall

It has never been cheap to see the world, but there has always been ways to travel for pennies on the dollar. Today, as travel become even more expensive, due to rising fossil fuel costs and all kinds of factors, you have to explore cheap and even free travel options, you do this or you stay home, the choice is yours.

For example time share has become a way to travel and stay in some really exclusive locations, and in comparison to a hotel stay, a timeshare, self catering option can't be beaten price-wise.

With ownership in a timeshare program you can choose to stay virtually anywhere in the world. All options are exchangeable and all you need to be able to do this is be a member of an exchange program. This will cost you around $90 a year, add to this the cost of the timeshare maintenance of about $600 and the exchange fee which is anything from $150 - $200 and you can get a weeks worth of great accommodations for under $900.

But what about considering a different kind of exchange, a home exchange?
